This song was initially done as a bit of a joke. I was messing around with some different production tools to my normal choice and I played around with a few loops and samples. It started getting infectiously danceable, so I continued to make something out it, adding some ridiculous guitar and then I decided I wanted to sing on it too.
Without writing anything down or thinking about it I did the whole thing ad-lib – As if you’d notice!
. I made a vow to do one take and one take only, whatever came out remained, no matter what it was or how good or bad it may be.
The title came first because of the repetitive nature of the music and after I had jokingly put down the vocals and listened back to it I realized that although it sounds like fun and a bit "throw away" the lyrics actually have a good message. Maybe that’s where my mind was subconsciously because it does reflect some of what I have been doing in the recent past.
You can’t dance, so you stay where you are…
… Rooted to the spot in an intro that never ends! I want to re-iterate that point because often as I am also guilty of sometimes, we don’t get started because we think we need more time or more training before we can have the confidence to begin, but true confidence will only come from actual results and results come from experience. It’s not the inability to dance that stops you from going out on the dance floor. It is the fear of what others will think of you. Who cares about them? They don’t actually pay that much attention anyway, they are too busy thinking about their own problems.
Really. The intro has been playing long enough now, time to start the first verse and get to that epic chorus! Go and do whatever it is you want to do and feel good about it!
Enjoy!
How are you playing out your "endless intro"? Leave you’re comments please.
