I have found my songs lately to have come from a desire to inspire myself to break through into a new level of achievement. As always, it seems these days I have set more big goals for myself and whenever I do this I always seem to start off by having to fight through a period of having little belief in myself.
This is usually due to not having all the factors in place for me to know which step is the right one to take next. Ludicrous really because we never have that guarantee of which is the best step to take, only the choice, to take this step, that one, or stand still and we all know where standing still will take us!
Your heart is the connection to everything that powers life. I don’t mean simply your beating heart in your chest, but you, without your ego and without your skin and bones. The part of you that is awake when you sleep and is bigger than your physical body. It is the connection.
No matter how much I know this in my head, it is never enough to stop me falling into the trap of waiting for a sign from outside to tell me what I should do next, but the time it takes me to notice that is diminishing. Your heart has all the answers and is more aware than you can possibly imagine. I’m referring to that part of you that makes you look over your shoulder just as you were about to pull out on the road, revealing another car in your blind spot. It’s your intuition that saves you and even if you take a step that doesn’t meet the success you were hoping, it’s you intuition that knows why you took that step as it has a very definite lesson for you to learn, so you will be ready enough for your successes when they present themselves to you.
Listen to Your Brave Heart
A while ago, my wife wanted me to write a song called Listen to Your Heart. Cynically, my initial thought was that this would be too cheesy a subject to write about. After all, how many say Listen to Your Heart every day. When you hear things so often they lose their meaning and become cliches, but they have only been said so often because of the truth they contain.
So after some time I opened my mind a little and told myself to put my cynicism to one side and see if I could write a song about listening to your heart. I’m happy enough with it to share it here and if it’s cheesy I don’t care because I know that the sentiment is real and heartfelt.
Enjoy!

hey there. big tune buddy.
You gotta turn this one into a massive orchestral moster of a thing.
Glad you decided to use a different title – I think Roxette beat ya to the other one.
About the massive, orchestral monster of a thing… I think I will.
Thanks!
