WSC Song 038 In My Bones

In My Bones [3:26m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (290)

This week you will experience the sound of my electric guitar. This song was written while chilling out with my Fender Stratocaster plugged into my Fender Champion 600 amplifier. A great practice setup. It wasn’t so easy to play on the acoustic, at least not the way I ended up playing it with the electric, so for a change this one is just me and the Strat.

It struck me not that long ago that it is quite common for me to learn and therefore know something intellectually, but not really get it into my body, so to speak and thus not really integrating my new knowledge into my life effectively, which is the case for most people.

What the blazes am I talking about?

Well, I’ll give an example: Let’s say you get angry a lot and it’s become so regular and automatic that it just becomes normal; you don’t even question it because it just happens, pretty much without you even noticing. Of course everybody around you notices because they can see it happening, just as you notice all the so-called negative traits of other people, which they don’t see about themselves.

Then, one day you do notice and you start to realize just how much you get angry and you even tell yourself that you know this isn’t working for you and you vow to control it better. This is a good start, but this is a level of knowing that doesn’t have a great deal of power. How many people know they should stop smoking, but don’t?

In My Bones
So, knowing with your conscious mind is only part of it, but with practice that knowing can become deeper and eventually it does integrate into your being as a new habit or pattern, which is more resourceful and that is what I describe in this song as in my bones. It’s more that just knowing, it is a feeling. There are certain things I knew, which have transformed from just knowing to feeling quite recently and I have to say it feels great. I truly believe that making the decision to follow my dream is playing a big part in this, so I recommend following your passion in life and if you don’t know what that is yet then take a few minutes every day to quietly reflect on it and ask yourself because inside you already know what it is.

Enjoy!
