WSC Song 059 Dont Die on Me

Don't Die on Me [4:00m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (97)

First off, this song is most definitely at the demo stage. Its been a pretty hectic week and I just decided that I didn’t have the time to flesh it out like I wanted. I still think it sounds cool though.

Despite the title, which is the main line in the chorus, this is not some morbid song about not wanting somebody to die. It is a metaphor for encouraging a friend or someone you care about to not give up on their dreams or ambitions.

I’ve seen it before and come close to it myself when people who start out determined, confident and ambitious end up resigned to failure and seem to just give up on everything. It is one of the biggest tragedies people experience and most that do experience this pattern in their life don’t realize what a tragedy it really is because they just buy into the age-old agreement that this is normal life and all that you can expect.

Well I believe that what you expect is what comes about, so if you expect the worst or expect nothing at all then you will get exactly what you expect and guess what I always train myself to expect every day? The best of course!

This song is a story of somebody making a plea to an old friend who has become more and more despondent over time and seemingly giving up on their dreams, or whatever. Its a reminder to them that they still have something of value and they still have what it takes. I think most of us probably have a friend that we could help out with that kind of encouragement. I no longer worry about annoying my friends with my positive stance on things or with my encouragement. If they really aren’t interested then they don’t have to listen, but I know that some part of them may be glad to hear it and keep it there for when they are ready to listen at a later date.

Never give up.
